About Him
When I began to formulate this About Me page, it became obvious that it’s not about me. It’s about Him. I am, first and foremost, a child of God. Everything I am, everything I do, and everything I have done is about Jesus Christ.
My Christian faith inspires me as a writer and speaker, as well as a father, brother, friend, and acquaintance. The Lord desires much of me and for me. When I fall short, He is a patient and guiding Father. I’m humbled by His grace.
About Me
At many a coffee shop I can be seen staring at my laptop screen, or out the window, or at customers coming and going. This means my writing is coming together in my brain. Sometimes it comes in a rush where I type as fast as I can before I forget what’s compiled in my mind. The creative process is enjoyable and satisfying.
My skills as a speaker didn’t come as naturally. As a boy I was painfully shy and didn’t know how to make friends or talk to people. Yet I was blessed to have a sixth-grade teacher who allowed me to administer makeup spelling tests because I rarely missed any words the first time. Likewise, I discovered that when I gave a speech, I could prepare for it beforehand, rather than be caught in impromptu, awkward social situations. In later years, I ended up winning a few speech awards and teaching adult education in a variety of settings and subjects. I’ve learned to appreciate public speaking.

I was born in San Jose but grew up in Milpitas. After high school I attended California State University, Sacramento and earned a degree in English. The Sacramento area has been home for more than 40 years. I’ve been a motorcyclist for over 50 years and my current bikes are a 2006 Harley-Davidson 1200 Custom Sportster and a 2007 Honda Goldwing Trike. I live at a 55+ retirement community and enjoy many of the activities such as dinners and dances, water volleyball, and the Experiencing God club. My favorite teams are the San Francisco 49ers, the Sacramento Kings, and the Sac State Hornets. I like superhero movies and listen to 60s and 70s music.
